About Dave Scott
Growing up listening to bands such as Kiss, Cheap Trick and Pink Floyd, David began studying music at the age of 8. He eventually picked up the Guitar at age 14, but quickly switched over to the Bass. Playing in bands all throughout high school, David’s appetite for music grew, and eventually led to a formal music education as an Electric and Double (Upright) Bass major, studying Jazz and Classical Music Theory as well as Jazz Improvisation.
David has been recording and performing for over 20 years and has worked in a variety of styles: from Pop, Rock, and Heavy Metal to Traditional Jazz and Big Band Swing, Jazz Fusion and Classic R&B to Early and Modern Classical.
While David has been influenced by dozens of bass players Geddy Lee, Victor Wooten, Jaco Pastorius, Rocco Prestia, Marcus Miller, Alain Caron “It’s all about the groove. As a bassist it's most important to be a supportive player. Flashy technique should never get in the way of laying down a solid groove.”
